12 teams competed in Friday night’s New Haven Relays, which were won by the home team. The Heritage Patriots finished in fourth place and likely would have finished in third if not for a few distances chalked off due to fouls in the discus and long jump.
Team Scores
New Haven 91, Leo 74, Bishop Dwenger 63, Heritage 59, FW Snider 58, Van Wert 58
-Marshall Harris set a new personal record in the 200 with his fourth-place finish Friday. His time of 23.10 is the best of any Z-Land athlete in the last two years and is within a second of last year’s sectional-winning time.
-Zeke Litchfield also turned in a good time in the 200, running 24 flat for his best performance of the year.
-Harris also set a PR in the 400, trimming a second off his best time this year to take fourth place in 51.60. Harris is appearing more and more to be a contender for the sectional title, with last year’s winning time for Brayden Voght from Huntington North at 51.26.
-Eli Tigulis ran his best time of the season (58.00) in the 400 as well.
-Aaron Baeumler finished next to teammate Hayden Amstein and set a season-best time of 2:19.60. The pair finished in 16th and 17th place in the 800.
-Corbin Roth set a PR in the mile, finishing in 18th place with a time of 5:06.52.
-Roth and teammate Gabe Hanford also set PRs in the 3200 for Heritage Friday night.
-Geremew Gerber finished in 10th in the 300 hurdles with his best performance of the year.
-The 4×400 relay team of Gerber, Grayson Mullins, Cooper Naatz and Harris set a new season mark for themselves to finish in eighth place. They now have the fastest time of any of the 4×4 teams in Z Land.
-The Patriots also set a season best by a significant margin in the 4×800, with Harris again running the final leg. He was joined by Gabe Hanford, Corbin Roth and Hayden Amstein for a time of 8:56.57. Only South Adams (8:54.95 at Ansonia Relays) has gone faster amongst the Z Land schools this year.
-Braden Walter won the high jump competition with a new PR, clearing 5′ 8″ for the first time.
-Ian Hale equaled his career best when he cleared 8′ 6″ in the vault. He finished in 10th place.
-The Patriots went 1-2 in the shot, with Charlie Riddle and Logan Teichman cleaning up against the rest of the competition.
-The pair of throwers were not as lucky in the discus, with both able to just have one legal throw out of their four attempts.
