Heritage made quick work of Southern Wells Thursday night on the Patriots’ home diamond, winning 16-1 in ACAC play.
The Patriots did not pummel Southern Wells pitching, but instead took advantage of myriad mistakes by the Raiders in their four innings at the plate.
All told, the Raiders issued four walks, hit five batters and committed five errors. They also threw five wild pitches, leaving the Patriots with just 10 RBI in their 16-run performance.
Brady Richman threw the first three innings for Heritage and got eight of his nine outs via strikeout. He allowed one unearned run.
Nolan Hoskins hit a pinch-hit home run for the Patriots and was the only batter in the lineup with more than two total bases, as the home side only had eight hits in total.
The Patriots will look for a much more competitive game Friday night at Concordia Lutheran before hosting Norwell Saturday morning.
