A great tournament run for the Bellmont Braves came to an abrupt end Saturday at Kokomo in a 10-0 loss to South Bend St. Joe.
Facing Oklahoma-bound Berkley Zache, the Braves only managed to put the ball in play twice as the ace pitcher threw a perfect game.
Zache, throwing to her sister Riley (who is also committed to OU), struck out the first 12 batters of the game before Taylor Bauer hit a line drive back to her, which was caught.
The only ball fielded by the rest of the team was a line drive off the bat of Emily Bleke in the seventh inning that was caught.
Riley Zache homered in the game and had a double in three runs, while Berkley had two doubles, a single and two runs knocked in.
The Huskies (as they are now called) scored six runs in the top of the seventh to make it a blowout.
MaryKate Scheumann threw for Bellmont, striking out three.
The Braves are back in action Monday at Columbia City in a game that will be broadcast on WZBD.
