One of the new scholarships for this year at Bellmont High School was an award in honor of Jim Teeter. It was awarded for the first time Wednesday night to two BHS seniors.
Jim was president of the Bellmont Wrestling Club for several years and was part of Junior Achievement for a decade. Along with being an avid Yankees fan, Jim coached little league baseball for more than 20 years. This scholarship was established to reward a Bellmont High School senior who, like Jim, had been involved in Bellmont wrestling, Junior Achievement, and this community. Makenzie has been involved with Junior Achievement and Duke will continue his wrestling career at Michigan State.
Jim was a 1965 graduate of Decatur Catholic High School and a lifelong parishioner of St. Marys Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 864.
Jim served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He was a disabled American veteran and member of the American Legion Post 43. He graduated from G.E. Apprentice School and became a designer with G.E. of Fort Wayne.
Teeter passed away in 2018.
