South Adams took a 5-1 lead into the top of the seventh inning against Homestead Tuesday after Gracy Bixler and Addie Baker teamed up to keep the Spartans in check for most of the contest.
The Spartans did manage to score twice in the seventh, but Baker got a strikeout to end the game and get the save in a 5-3 win. Baker struck out seven batters in her three innings of work.
Macy Pries was the catalyst for the SA offense with a 3 for 4 night, while Bekah Patterson had a triple and a single, scoring both times.
Homestead managed just five singles on the night and the Starfires did not make an error behind their two pitchers.
The Starfires host New Haven Wednesday.
