Sami Lemler and Kayla Watkins teamed up to throw the seven combined innings Monday at Adams Central and get back to winning ways, beating the Jets 9-5 after losing a doubleheader at South Adams Saturday.
Lemler started in the circle and went three innings, allowing three runs (two earned) as she received run support, with the visitors leading 5-3 after three.
The story of the night was defense. Both sides put plenty of balls in play, giving plenty of chances to the infielders. The two teams combined for 11 errors.
Remarkably, all 12 hits for Norwell were singles, but the Jets handed them plenty of extra bases with their six errors.
Lilli Jackson took the loss for AC, going the distance and allowing five earned runs while striking out two.
Watkins allowed just one earned run in her four innings of relief, striking out seven.
The Jets are right back in Monroe Tuesday for another home game against sectional rival, Manchester.
