Facing their rivals for the third time this year, the Adams Central Flying Jets took care of business early and jumped out to a 21-7 lead at the end of the first quarter, then cruised their way to a 75-52 win against South Adams in the first round of the Bluffton 2A Sectional Tuesday night.
The win gave the Adams Central Jets their second consecutive 20-win season.
The boys in red and white got solid performances from Micah McClure and Ryan Tester. Both knocked down some long shots and ended with eight points.
Braylend Reber added 12 for the Jets and Trace Maller had one of his best games of the season with a 16-point effort.
The Jets were, as usual, led in scoring by Isaac Schultz with 24 points.
Coach Aaron McClure’s team will now play in the semifinal against defending state champion Blackhawk Christian. The Braves are ranked #6 in the current AP Poll in 2A. That game can be heard live on 92.7 FM Friday.
For South Adams, the season comes to an end with a 3-19 record.
Owen Wanner ended his career with a 12-point performance in the loss. Tytus Lehman led the Starfires with 15.
