Bluffton became only the second ACAC team to ever win a sectional title in boys swimming and diving Saturday at Jay County.
Notes & Times:
-Adams Central’s medley relay team of Logan Clark, Eli Wellman, Owen Connelley and Ethan Crockett trimmed three seconds off their season-best time and took fifth place in the A Final.
-The Bellmont Braves also set a season-best mark and finished just behind the Jetskis. That team consisted of Oliver Werling, Hudson Krull, Zayne Roop and Logan Whitacre.
-Rylan Heyerly of Norwell became the first Knight to qualify for the State Finals with an outstanding swim in the 200. Heyerly went nearly six seconds faster than his preliminary time and was five seconds under his season best to win easily over Cooper Kowalski of Huntington North. The freshman will swim Friday at the IUPUI Natatorium.
-Norwell’s Kale Meredith swam his best IM of the season to take third place.
-Bellmont freshman Hudson Krull swam a career-best time of 24.57 to finish in a dead heat for fourth place in the 50 Free A Final.
-Adams Central’s Damon Light won the diving with a new career-high total of 378.10.
-Bellmont’s Logan Whitacre was second in the diving and will also advance to regional with a career-high total of 282.75.
-Norwell’s Colten Strunk finished fourth in the Fly final with a season-best time of 59.09.
-Owen Connelley (AC) also swam a season best and won the B Final in the Fly.
-Rylan Heyerly doubled up and won a second event in the 100 Free with a season-best time of 49.27.
-Keaton Blinn of Norwell was third in the B Final with a season-best time in the 100 Free of 57.49.
-Ethan Williamson (Norwell) swam a season best in the 500 and took third place. Teammate Gage Reinhard did the same with his fifth-place finish.
-Norwell’s 200 Free Relay team of Kale Meredith, Colten Strunk, Gage Reinhard and Rylan Heyerly swam a season best but had to settle for second place.
-Logan Clark (AC) swam his best time of the year and finished second in the A Final behind Noah Brooks of Bluffton.
-Oliver Werling of Bellmont bettered his outstanding time at the NE8 meet and took fifth place in 1:02.11.
-Kale Meredith (Norwell) was third in the breaststroke with a season-best time of 1:04.19.
-Bellmont freshman Hudson Krull turned in a great performance and took fourth by cutting almost two seconds from his previous career best in the breaststroke.
-Norwell’s 400 relay team of Braden Hoag, Gage Reinhard, Kale Meredith and Rylan Heyerly took third by cutting five seconds off their previous best time.
-Adams Central’s 400 team of Owen Connelley, Tristen Wurm, Ethan Crockett and Logan Clark cut four more seconds from their time in the prelims to finish in a dead heat for fifth place with Delta.
-Bellmont’s 400 relay team of Oliver Goble, Zayne Roop, Oliver Werling and Hudson Krull swam a season best and finished in seventh place.
