Jayden Jett – Cowan – 150 lbs.
Jayden Jett was defeated in the opening round by #9 Kaptur Nowaczyk of Crown Point, 13-7.
Aidan Elkins – New Haven – 150 lbs.
The semi-state champion from New Haven entered the day unranked and he was the only winner from the local semi-state, pinning #13 Chase Kaszprak of Lake Central. He will face returning state runner-up Hunter May of Floyd Central (Ranked #2) tomorrow morning.
Gavin Davis – Bellmont – 157 lbs.
Davis scored the opening takedown in his match against Aidan Kincaide of Noblesville but was defeated 6-3, ending Gavin’s junior season.
Duke Myers – Bellmont 165 lbs.
Duke found six takedowns in a dominating win over Emilio Tirado of Lake Central and he will finish his career on the medal stand tomorrow!
Levi Abbott – Cowan – 165 lbs.
Abbott was defeated in his match by Brant Beck of Rochester by a score of 5-1.
Keagan Martin – Bellmont – 215 lbs.
Martin scored three takedowns and a reversal and was dominating Aiden Beadles from South Putnam when he scored a fall in the final minute of his bout at 215.
Martin will now face a rematch against #1-ranked Will Clark, the defending state champion Saturday morning.
Juan Cruz – Bluffton – 285 lbs.
Juan had one of the biggest upsets of the first session, pinning #3 Aramic McNutt of Highland in an outstanding performance as part of a huge round for local heavyweights.
#1-ranked Paul Clark was knocked off by James Hartleroad of DeKalb in the same half of the bracket as Cruz, opening the door for a wrestler to seize the day tomorrow.
Second Session
Julianna O’Campo – New Haven – 106 lbs.
O’Campo became the first female wrestler to win an IHSAA medal with an incredible comeback against Alonzo Chantea of Plymouth. She trailed 9-1 after the first period and looked out of the match but never allowed another point and eventually pinned Chantea for the biggest roar of the crowd on Friday.
Henry Faurote – Bellmont – 120 lbs.
Faurote fought off a couple of nice shots by Tommy Frazier of Zionsville, but was taken down in the first period and trailed 2-0 after two minutes. Frazier scored another takedown in the second after they started neutral and caught Faurote on his back. The Zionsville senior settled in and Faurote fought a fall for almost a minute before being pinned.
Hunter Douglas – Norwell – 120 lbs.
Hunter was tech falled by Chayce Yant of Fishers in the opening round.
Bradin Daniels – Union City – 126 lbs.
Daniels dominated Hayden Bennett of Penn, taking his man down in each of the three periods for a 6-2 victory, becoming Union City’s first medalist since Matt Taylor in 1991. Daniels and Taylor are the only two medalists in school history.
Cody Rowles – Jay County – 126 lbs.
Rowles hit a big headlock and took the lead in the second period, advancing with a 9-5 upset win over Layne Horn of Rochester.
Jackson Bradley – Cowan – 132 lbs.
Undefeated Jackson Bradley won by tech fall quickly by a 15-0 score against Dylan Fernandez of WL Harrison and will wrestle Keith Parker of Ben Davis Saturday morning.
Tony Wood – Jay County – 138 lbs.
Tony Wood won 15-2 in his first match to claim his second career medal. Wood was in total control against Blake Jones of Lawrence North throughout the match and he will face #13 Justice Thornton for a spot in the semifinals in the morning.
Colton Bollenbacher – South Adams – 144 lbs.
In the final bout of the night at the meet, Bollenbacher faced #2 Parker Reynolds of Brownsburg. A five-point move by Reynolds in the first period doomed Colt’s chances. He fell behind 7-0 and rode out Reynolds for the entire third period, picking up a stalling point and losing 7-1.
Easton Doster – New Haven – 144 lbs.
Doster dominated in a 19-4 victory over Gage Rose of Switz County. He will will face Dillon Graham of Cathedral in the morning.
