It was an improvised meet, but the Adams Central BAGUBAs earned two more victories Wednesday in a double dual, defeating a pair of teams who were originally scheduled to compete in Jet Invite this past Saturday. That meet was canceled due to the frigid weather, but Bishop Dwenger and Huntington North were able to make it back to Monroe to put their toes on the line and wrestle AC.
Adams Central faced Dwenger in the opener and started the meet with three dominating wins, including a 15-0 tech fall for Mav Dubach at 138. Luke Gleave of Dwenger opened the scoring for the visitors with a quick turn of Jaret Smith in the second period, but Adams Central answered back with a convincing win from Matt Heiser at 165. Heiser dominated on top on his way to a 4-0 win.
The Jets also got a boost with the return of Max Kaehr to the lineup at 175 after an injury several weeks ago. Kaehr took care of AJ Shefferly in a 9-4 decision.
Adams Central went on a big run after that, scoring bonus points in nearly every bout until Simon Cornewell picked up a win at 120 for the Saints. Dylan Ogg and Brason Schortgen finished off the win for the Jets.
After watching Dwenger face Huntington North for an hour, the Jets got back on the mat to take on the Vikings. The meet began with HN’s best wrestler, Luke Teusch, scoring a fall against Max Byerly, but the Jet sophomore looked awfully impressive in the opening four minutes of the bout.
Huntington North scored another fall at 157, but the Jets went on a run of five straight falls before Myles Kaehr accepted a forfeit at 106. Adams Central did not lose a bout the rest of the night on their way to a 68-12 victory to wrap up the regular season with a 27-5 record.
