It’s been decades since the Bellmont Braves hosted the Bishop Dwenger Saints in the Bellmont gym and head coach Tim Myers plans to make Thursday night’s match a loud and uninviting one for the Saints.
The 11-0 Braves will celebrate Youth Night with all the members of the elementary and club teams gaining free admission as they try to pack the gym for what looks to be an exciting slate of home matches this season.
#4 Bellmont are also hopeful to get a big boost in their lineup, with Gavin Davis close to returning to the mat for the first time this season. The junior qualified for state last year but has been recovering from an injury that hampered his efforts in the prestigious IHPO tournament in October. His insertion into the lineup at 157 would make the team even more formidable as they attempt to knock off 2A #1 Delta on Saturday night.
Thursday night’s match will be broadcast live on WZBD, 92.7 FM with former state runner-up Rex Brewer and former Bellmont coach Alan Kalver on the call.
