Bellmont Braves (12-12 last season) at Southern Wells Raiders (6-16 last season)
The first game of the Payton Selking era will come Wednesday night in the Raider Dome. The Bellmont Braves have a solid core of players back to start this new era. The team will face a pretty tough challenge in the opening week with three interesting games, but the task at hand will be getting off to a winning start against Southern Wells on the road.

The Braves averaged 53.1 points a game last season and 46.3 of that average comes from returning players. Expect this class of five seniors to get the bulk of minutes, especially early in the season as some of last year’s JV guys get more acclimated to varsity play.
For the Raiders, they also have their top two scorers returning in forward Chandler Oswalt and guard Evan Pennington.
The Braves have had no problem with the Raiders to open the last two seasons and the game should be a good indication of how competitive the team can be against upcoming opponents Woodlan and Concordia.

Series History
Bellmont has beaten Southern Wells in each of the last eight seasons and the program’s win streak is even longer at 16 in a row. The last win by Southern Wells over Bellmont was in the old one-class sectional in March of 1996, when Kevin Leising was the coach.
