Last season, the Eastbrook Panthers came into the StarDome and suffered a close defeat in their season opener, but then went on to win a sectional title.
Saturday, the Panthers made a big statement that they are a contender for another title this year with a 78-32 blowout win of the South Adams Starfires at home.
Addie Baker made her varsity debut for South Adams and the newest member of the team led the Stars in scoring with 12 points on 5 of 8 shooting.
Senior Macy Pries had three steals and went the line six times (hitting five) and finished with seven points.
Sophomore Lanie Trausch led the team in rebounds with five and also scored eight points.
The Starfires open their season at home Tuesday against Winchester, a team they failed to beat last year.
