It was a bit of an inauspicious start, as on the third play of the game deep in their own end, Owen Wanner threw a pass that was intercepted by the Raiders’ Jarrett Martin at the Starfire 25. It was the run game advancing them to the Starfire 4, where on a 4th and 1, the Raiders elected to go for it, and converted on a dive off left tackle by Case Boxell for 2 yards. The Starfire defense then held ground, and drove the Raider offense backwards to the 6, but put points on the board as Joshua Aulbach connected on the 23-yard field goal.

Following the ensuing kickoff that rolled into the end zone for a touchback, Wanner threw his second interception, this time to William Johnson at the Starfire 39. The Raiders could not muster a first down, coming up short on a 4th and 3, turning the ball over to the Starfires, where Wanner tried for a sweep, losing 5 yards. On the following play, Colten Bollenbacher took it 75 yards for the touchdown with just over a minute remaining in the quarter.

Wanner then redeemed himself, as he was responsible for four Starfire touchdowns in the 2nd quarter. The first was a keeper for 36 yards. He then threw for wo touchdowns in the span of two minutes of game action, to Hayden Brown and Wes Summersett. For the 4th, Wanner turned to receiver, as he caught a pass from Ty Lehman just 10 seconds before the halftime break.
Wanner later scored his 5th touchdown on the night on a 15-yard run in the 3rd quarter, which would send the game into a running clock as light rain fell off and on throughout the night. South Adams scored one final time in the 4th as Caleb Hirschfeld ran it in from two yards out.

South Adams improved to 6-3 overall and 3-3 in the ACAC, with a big matchup to open up the postseason, a rematch against their rivals in #2 Adams Central next week in Monroe. Southern Wells fell to 1-8 overall and 0-6 in the conference, and will host North Miami (1-8) in the first round of sectionals.
