A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held Saturday morning at the site of the new trio of athletic courts at Riverside Center.
The pickleball courts have been in use for some time, but the sand volleyball and shuffleboard courts have just recently been finished.
City officials are offering coffee and donuts starting at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the site, with the ribbon cut slated for 11. At 11:30, across Jackson St., opening ceremonies for the Highland Games will begin.
Mayor Dan Rickord has praised the new setup behind Riverside Center as “a great collaboration of many.”
Both city and county funds were used, and pickleball enthusiasts have been a key partner in the project.
The courts will be open daily until 10 p.m. There is a button available to activate the lights on the courts, Park-Rec Leisure Services Director Chris Krull said.
