After Adams Central scored a surprise victory over South Adams in two sets Saturday at the ACAC tournament at Heritage, the Starfires bounced back and beat the Jets in three straight sets on Adams Central’s home court to right the ship and stake their claim again as sectional favorites in two weeks.
The 25-18, 25-20, 26-24 win for South Adams moved their season record to 23-4 ahead of the last week of the regular season, when the team will play three different non-conference opponents to prepare for the IHSAA sectional the following week.
Macy Pries led the Starfires with 13 kills, while Reagan Bollenbacher had 11.
Reagan Beitler had 15 assists and Laney Trausch had 21.
Pries led the team in digs with 11, with Shea Alberson and Bollenbacher each coming up with nine saves.
Adams Central fell to 16-10 on the season with two matches remaining, including their final ACAC tussle of the season at Southern Wells Thursday. The Jets end their regular season with a tournament at Union County before focusing on the postseason.
South Adams won a competitive JV match 25-21, 25-24. Shelby Weigel led the Stars with five kills.
