Just a few days after finishing third at the NE8 tournament at Cross Creek, the Bellmont Braves made up a match that had been postponed earlier in the year and fell to a good Leo team by five strokes, 193-198.
Playing at Bridgewater G.C., the Braves broke 200 on a pretty good round from the team on what coach Macke called “a pretty tough course.”
Leo’s Alexa Bremer edged Meghan Pettibone by two strokes in the battle of No. 1s and it was a close competition all the way down to the 5s, as none of the varsity girls from either team shot over 54.
Pettibone scored a birdie on the sixth hole.
The Braves will have one last day of practice Thursday before taking a day off school to compete at the sectional, now being held at Chestnut Hills. The team will tee off before noon and play throughout the afternoon.
Bellmont finishes the NE8 slate with a winning 4-3 record.
