While they didn’t come away with an NE8 title, there was little shame in finishing behind an outstanding DeKalb team for coach Mike Macke’s Bellmont Braves Saturday as the home team finished a very respectable third place with a round of 381.
The Barons settled a tie amongst themselves for medalist honors as Jadan Tompkins won over Paige Williams. DeKalb had the top three scores with Grace Pfister shooting an 82, four strokes behind her teammates.
With the top three finishers, the Barons won the tournament by 30 strokes over Norwell, who had Ellie Gatton in fifth and Savanna Simerman in sixth.
For Bellmont, Krosbi Butler’s 88 represented an outstanding round for the team’s outgoing senior class and was good enough for a tie for seventh place. Teammate Meghan Pettibone also finished in the top 12 with a 93.
Butler was great from the start on her home course, making birdie on No. 1. She made par on a stretch of three of four holes on the old holes of the back nine in her own back yard and came in under bogey with her 88.
