Playing in a different format from a normal tournament, the South Adams Starfires found success Saturday at the South Side Invite and finished second to a good Blackhawk Christian team as the high school tennis season got underway this past weekend.
No. 1 singles player Conner Hyman finished first, beating his Blackhawk Christian and Northrop opponents in straight sets.
No. 2 Cole Hyman was third, losing to the South Side player 6-2, 6-3 and splitting 1-1 with Northrop (7-5, 6-3). Cole won a ten-point tiebreaker 10-5 to win.
Kane Sturwold finished second among the No. 3s, beating Northrop handily but falling to the Blackhawk player.
The No. 1 doubles team of Ian Neuenschwander and Will Mawhorr beat Northrop 6-0, 6-1, but also lost to Blackhawk.

Kade Sprunger and Gabe Neuenschwander beat South Side 7-5, 6-3 and then lost to Blackhawk to finish in second place.
