Decatur’s Line St. water tower, with a fresh coat of paint and the words “Decatur” prominently displayed, should be getting its water back next week.
City Utilities Director Kevin Hackman said Monday that the painting portion of the project would likely be finished within the next couple of days, and the mechanical/plumbing portion completed by late this week.

If all goes well, the tank will be refilled early next week, he added.
LC United Painting of Sterling Heights, Michigan, got the contract for the project with a bid of $248,000 and a past history of good work for the city.
LC United had painted the city’s east tower last year, adding the Bellmont High School logo.
Referring to a photo of the tower painting going on Saturday evening, Hackman said the LC United crews “work pretty much seven days a week.”
With the completion of the work on Line St., attention will turn to the city’s third water tower, at Waterworks Park, by the swimming pool. If funding is available, it could be redone next year.
