There was a new look – although not a permanent one – to Decatur City Council’s meeting Tuesday night in City Hall.

Sitting up front in the mayor’s seat was veteran City Councilman Matt Dyer. With Mayor Dan Rickord out of town, Dyer was acting as mayor pro tem, as he has done in the past.

While Dyer’s normal council seat was empty, so too was the one beside it, with Councilman Scott Murray on vacation.
Meanwhile, all five women seeking a seat on council in the November city election were on hand:
Jenny Bowers-Schultz (D) who opposes Gina Melcher (R) for the First District seat currently held by Wiley Sirk,
Leslie Reilly-Green (R), who is seeking the Second District seat currently held by Democrat Tyler Fullenkamp, who has filed for a new term.
Jennifer Hitchcock (D), eyeing the lone at-large seat on council currently held by Dyer.
Abby Wilder (R), unopposed for the District 3 seat currently occupied by Craig Coshow.
Republican Murray is unopposed for a new term as District 4 rep.
