Athena Schwartz hit her third home run of the season in the top of the fifth inning to put the Jets up 16-1, the final score of Thursday’s non-conference blowout in Wabash county.
The game lasted just five innings with the mercy rule and Maddie Hill went the distance again for Adams Central, allowing just four hits and striking out six.
The second inning saw the visitors string together eight consecutive hits to start the inning before Northfield could record an out. Addie Baker’s double then made it 8-0 Adams Central.
Melina Peralez knocked in two more runs in the third inning as part of her perfect 3 for 3 night, pushing her team-leading RBI total to 34 this season through 21 games.
The Jets added two runs in each of the next two innings.
Adams Central will host Carroll Friday night and then play a doubleheader against Southwood before focusing on next week’s sectional.
