The Bellmont Braves traveled north to Bridgewater Golf Club to take on DeKalb and turned in their best score of the season, shooting 155 on the par 36 front nine and winning by 17 strokes.
As he has done all season long, No. 1 Winston Brown led the team with a one-under 35. He bogeyed the fourth hole Par 4 early, but came back with birdies on the Par 4 seventh and another on the ninth, a Par 5.
Another Braves senior, Bryce Rickord, had the second-best round, shooting a 38 and playing the first seven holes at par before two bogeys ended his round.
“It’s our best team scoring of the season thus far,” said assistant coach Mike Macke. “Winston is still blistering courses, he’s fun to watch right now.”
Senior Jayden Haines had seven pars for a round of 42, while Owen Minnick turned in a solid 40 from the No. 2 spot.
Gage Bressler was just a shot out of the scoring with a 43.
“Bryce made bogeys on those last two holes,” noted Macke, “but they were great saves from bad positions. It’s the best nine of the year for him.”
The Braves JV played well, but lost 194-197 as DeKalb got a 40 from their No. 8, Kaden Nack. Nack chipped in three times from off the green for the best round of any Baron golfer on the night, varsity or junior varsity.
