It was a triumphant return to competition for Cam Smith Friday night at the Apache Invitational at Wabash High School. Six months after breaking his leg (fittingly also in Wabash County), Smith, who missed the entire basketball season and state run for football, returned to the high jump pit and cleared 5-08 in his first meet. The previous best by any county jumper was 5-02 this season. The height was, even more impressively, the best of his career.Â
