Jillian Wemhoff continued her hot-hitting week with a 3 for 3 night, including two doubles, as the Bellmont Braves won the first game of a weekend tournament against host Kokomo, 15-4.Â
Wemhoff scored four times and knocked in three as the cleanup hitter. She reached base in all five plate appearances, drawing two walks. Hitting behind her were Taylor Bauer and Liz Bobay and both had three RBI themselves.Â
Piper Baker worked the first three innings with the team scheduled to play twice more on Saturday. She struck out two and allowed four hits.
Mary Kate Scheumann took over with the Braves up 9-2 and allowed just one earned run in four innings of work, striking out three.
Bobay got the start at first base as the team continues to miss Rachel Bleke, who is currently out with a high ankle sprain. Scheumann started in left field before coming in to pitch. Sami Christen ended up in left after Baker took over her spot at second.
