The newest head coach of the Bluffton Tigers boys basketball program was made official Monday night by the corporation’s school board as the Wells County school hired Adam Gray to take the helm of the program.
Gray leaves behind the Heritage program after five seasons as the head coach of the Patriots. Finishing 2022-23 with a 13-12 record, Gray finishes his time in the East Allen system with an overall record of 49-67.
“It’s bittersweet,” noted Gray to WZBD over the weekend as he awaited the official announcement. “Heritage is a great community with great people and I loved the kids, too.”
Gray noted that he and his wife, Rachel, who also taught at Heritage, would be relocating to Bluffton in the near future as part of the overhaul of the Bluffton program.
“It’s a new challenge for me and for us and I love how Bluffton is a basketball-first community.”
Gray has plenty of work to do as the Tigers won just one of their final 21 games a year ago. Gray’s Patriots beat Bluffton 77-52 in February.
Gray replaces Karl Grau, who only managed 13 wins in his three years in charge of the team.
