In the girls track meet Thursday, Jay County beat Bellmont 82-40. The big showdown was between two of the top sprinters in the area and Jay County’s Natalie Wehrly won both the 100 and 200 by narrow margins over Bellmont’s top sprinter, Haleigh Wesley.Â
Sydney Keane edged out Wesley to win the 400 and Ellen Scott provided five team points with a 6:13 to win the mile.Â
Bellmont also picked up a win with their superior distance team, with Scott and Madison Witte helping the 4×800 team run an 11:12 for the victory.Â
Jay County’s Gabi Bilbrey also got the best of another Bellmont star, Sierra Schmidt, out-throwing her in both the shot and the discus to win first place in both.
