When Adams Central took to the field at Southwood Friday night, the Jets left no doubt, scoring five touchdowns in five first-half possessions to cruise to a 48-0 victory and claim their spot for a sectional championship.

Southwood had the ball first to start the game following a touchback, but the stingy Jet defense actually pushed the Knights back four yards and force a three and out and a punt that would only go 15 yards to the Knight 31.

Jack Hamilton led the Jets to the end zone in mere seconds, eventually connecting with Trevor Currie on a 28-yard strike to open the scoring. Following another three and out, the Jets had no trouble taking the ball back to the end zone, as Hamilton scored on a five-yard sweep.

Keegan Bluhm scored twice in the second quarter on a pair of runs from six and three yards out. Meanwhile, the Jet defense remained tough, as they allowed only two first downs to the Knights, who would not cross midfield until late in the half, finishing with 52 yards.

Adams Central wrapped up the first half scoring on a 27-yard strike from Hamilton to Currie with 27 seconds left, bringing the score to 35-0 at the break, forcing the running clock to go into effect for the remainder of the game.

AC got the second half kickoff, where the Knights tried a pooch kick that the Jets recovered at midfield. Two plays later, the Hamilton to Currie connection struck again for 43 yards.

Southwood showed its best drive of the night, where they converted a 4th and 8. Quarterback Griffin Chambers, who also is the punter, faked and threw a pass in the flat to Luke Pershing for 17 yards to extend the drive. However, the drive stalled out, eventually turning the ball over on downs.

The two teams traded punts back and forth over the course of the next four possessions, until late in the 4th, as Vance Miller busted through the line and scampered 70 yards for the final score in the game. Adams Central (11-0) advances to the sectional championship, where they will be on the road again, this time at Madison-Grant for a 7 p.m. kickoff Friday. Southwood ended their season with a 5-6 record.
