Adams Memorial Hospital was recently recognized nationally as a Top Hospital in Nursing Communication by the Indiana Rural Health Association. The distinguished award is based on Adams Memorial Hospital’s consistently high nursing communication scores from The Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) patient satisfaction survey. The scores from the CMS survey are indicative of superior performance and correlate with star ratings. The survey was developed by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality in collaboration with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) beginning is 2002.
Phillip Ellis from the Indiana Rural Health Association stated, “Nurses become the face of the hospital for patients, these are the people that patients see most frequently when hospitalized and they inevitably define the patient’s experience. With Adams Memorial Hospital’s effective communication with nurses, it ensures the best patient care, shared organizational values, passion for the community, and thus the delivery of healthcare is vastly improved.”
Chris Butler, Chief Nursing and Operating Officer at Adams Memorial Hospital stated she is very proud of the Adams Nursing team. She believes effective communication is the key to providing excellent and compassionate care for our community, and this award is significant because it identifies the essential role of nurses, which cannot be overstated. This recognition demonstrates the importance in nurse communication and sends the message that our nurses are highly valued.
