Maggie Wilson scored a brace – one goal in each half – and the Braves turned a nervy game into a 4-0 win in the NE8 on the turf of New Haven Monday night.
Ella Sovine and Maggie Wilson had first half goals, but the New Haven Bulldogs looked to be a much improved side over previous years. Several speedy runs down the touch line put some pressure on the Bellmont back line, with the home team accumulating three shots on target against Mary Bleke, who kept her second NE8 clean sheet of the career.
Maggie Wilson’s second goal of the night made it 3-0 and Grace Ruble finished a simple tap-in for the final score line.
Along with Wilson’s two goals, she also contributed the assists on the goals by Sovine and Ruble. Kaitlyn Barton was also credited with two assists.
The Braves face two more challenges before claiming the NE8 title outright – East Noble on Wednesday and DeKalb on Monday.
