Godfrey Shoaf bowled over the Jay County Patriots and Jamison Roach picked them apart as the Adams Central Flying Jets won 42-0 on Homecoming Night Friday in Week 4 ACAC action.

Taking over for the injured Thomas Laughlin midway through the game at Eastside, Shoaf has been a revelation, gaining confidence with every carry.

“He’s a kid who is a perfect example of our ‘next man up’ mantra,” coach Mosser told WZBD. “Last year as a freshman, he missed the entire year and this summer there were times where he just looked like he didn’t know what was going on, then you remember how much he missed. Now that he’s learned the plays, gotten his chance and found some success, you can just see the confidence growing. He’s really learned a lot in a short amount of time.”

Shoaf opened the scoring with a five-yard touchdown midway through the first quarter on the Jet’s first possession and his 43-yard run with two minutes to go in the half put any hopes of a Jay comeback to bed. He finished with 145 yards on the ground on just ten touches.

Griffin Bluhm was the man on the other side of the ball that shined for the Jets. Along with an interception and 18-yard return, Bluhm led the Jets with seven tackles, including two for loss and an additional half sack.

Barrett Collier had a similar night for the coach Hammond D. He shared the sack with Bluhm and had two more TFLs of his own.

The Jets piled up 400+ yards of offense and had just one turnover, a fumble. They held Jay County QB Brady Millspaugh to just 2 of 9 passing for 11 yards.

Leighton Brown, who spent the first few weeks of the season at the top of the state’s leaderboard in rushing and in scoring, was neutralized by the Jets’ defense. Brown had one big 42-yard run, but was held to 61 yards on his other 20 carries.

Colston Pruitt had two catches for the Jets for 49 yards.

Adams Central will try to make it three wins in a row next Friday at Heritage against a Patriots team that lost for the first time, falling 21-13 at home to South Adams.
