Bellmont senior Taylor Sutter had 18 kills and the Braves beat Bishop Luers in the BHS home opener Thursday in four sets, 25-9, 18-25, 25-13, 25-9.
Now 3-0 on the year, it was the first match won by the Braves that did not go down to the very last few points, with Bellmont beating both Adams Central and Bishop Dwenger in five in the past week.
The Braves dominated the first, third and fourth sets, but came out flat in the second and were soundly beaten by the visiting Knights.
The team will face much tougher tests Saturday at Yorktown when they play the host Tigers and Avon in their annual trip to Tiger Country.
Belle Gumbel converted 7 of 17 chances and Brea Shoaf added nine kills in the win.
Senior Averie Coats led the team in digs and aces with 14 and two, respectively.
Gracie Riggs had 19 assists for BHS.
