BLUFFTON – Eastbrook captured the team title Friday and the Bluffton Tigers will join the Bellmont Braves as the three advancing teams to next week’s regional at the Players Club in Muncie.
Playing at Timber Ridge in Bluffton, the Panthers beat Bluffton by seven strokes, with the Braves just six strokes back of the Tigers in third. Oak Hill shot 340 to finish a tough fourth.
With the top seven individuals all coming from the top three teams, the door was left open for an 81 to advance an individual and Adams Central teammates Drew Johnson and Maverick Becher did just that.
They finished one shot ahead of Oak Hill’s Carson Hess and Norwell’s Isaiah Goeglein, who finished with 82s.
The top finishers for South Adams were Landon Warner and Jacob Liechty with 88s.
The Braves got into their position with an eventful Front Nine from Cameron Summers, who went bogey-bogey and then responded with birdie-birdie as the Twos and Ones were teeing off behind him. His 37 on the front was tops for the Braves.
Jacob Binegar, playing one group behind Summers, was all over the first few holes, but a pair of double bogeys on No. 7 and No. 8 sidetracked him. He made a pair of birdies on the Back Nine to break 80.
Chase Baker was playing in the top group and mixed three bogeys in with a birdie on the Front Nine to shoot 39. He was unable to find the birdies on the Back Nine, but his 82 was plenty solid enough to keep the Braves in the Top Three.
