Sue E. Schieferstein, 55, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away Tuesday evening, June 2, 2026 at Canterbury Nursing Center in Fort Wayne following a brief illness.
She was born on September 7, 1970 in Decatur, Indiana to the late Richard H. and Donna J. (Minster) Schieferstein.

Sue was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen. She enjoyed singing in the choir and serving in the youth group during her teenage years. She was a proud member of the “Wednesday Girls” who attended Wednesday night service and Bible class.
She graduated from Bellmont High School in 1989. She worked at Customized Delivery Services, Lincoln Financial Group and Adams County Solid Waste Management District.
She loved good food, good music and good fellowship; she was happiest when all three were combined into one evening. She also had a deep faith that she loved to share, with encouragement to everyone who came into her life.
Survivors include her brother, Douglas E. Schieferstein of New Haven, Indiana; sister, Joy A. Chrisman of New Haven, Indiana; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2026, at St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen with Pastor Peter Brock officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery – Bingen.
Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. In celebration of Sue’s life, we would love for family and friends to wear her favorite color, purple.
