Just a few days after a wild comeback to beat the Bluffton Tigers, the Bellmont Braves scored another victory over a sectional rival with a great third-set performance from senior Lilyana Suarez, who helped her team win 3-2.
The Braves had gotten straight-set wins at No. 1 singles from Emma Fuelling and the No. 1 doubles team of Averie Coats and Ella Ross, but Adams Central tied the match at 2-2 with wins at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles from Demi Landis and Brianna Pruitt/Lexi Linder.
Suarez had taken the first set from Lila Ringger, but the AC sophomore came back to win the second, forcing a deciding third set for the individual match and the team match.
Suarez’s win at 6-4 in the third gave the Braves the win and keeps them as favorites to repeat as sectional champions this season with five seniors in the lineup.
