The story of Monday night’s game between South Adams and Blackford in Berne was about the wind.
Blowing strongly across the field and out toward left field, the wind wreaked havoc on both infields, leading to seven errors combined in the game, but it was the pitching of the Bruins that led them to a 4-2 road win on WZBD, featured Monday night game.
Owen Norton gave up two early runs, both unearned, and the Bruins played from behind for most of the game, but Norton struck out seven in four innings of work and never allowed a hit.

What hurt Norton was a pair of walks issued in that first inning, setting the home team up to capitalize on a couple of errors.
The Bruins got one back in the fourth and tied the game in the fifth at 2-2, but it could have been more had the Starfires not gotten an out at the plate on a good throw.
Corbin Parrott threw the final three innings and kept the Stars in check, allowing just a double by Brendon Sprunger as the only hit allowed on the night for the away team. Parrott struck out four.
It was a tough loss to take for Jax Wanner, who struck out six and walked only one in six innings of good ball. One of his two runs allowed was unearned.
Derek Weaver threw the seventh and was credited with the loss, with the winning runs scoring on a wild pitch and a squeeze play in the top of the seventh.
