Adams Central scored a sweep of the Monroe Central Golden Bears Saturday after a delayed start on a wet day, honoring the 2001 state runner-up team with a pair of important victories to kick-start the season.
Joey Everett’s fly ball to center with the bases loaded and the score tied at five gave the team an exciting ending to the opening game.

The second game was an absolute slugfest with 25 combined runs, but the Jets scored the final three runs of the day, turning an 11-11 tie into a sweep.
Lawson Deathe started the first game and went three innings, allowing four runs on four hits. He struggled with his control, walking five.
Joey Everett came on in relief and struck out seven, walking none. He allowed just two hits and one earned run to get the victory.

In the second game, it was a similar story. Barrett Collier allowed seven runs over three innings, then Colston Pruitt gave up two runs in an inning of relief.
Jacob Miller, who hit a home run in the first game, was dominant in three innings of relief, allowing just one hit and striking out two.

Pruitt was 4-for-7 on the day with three runs scored and three knocked in.
