The Madison St. Plaza in Decatur comes alive with music and festivals during the warmer months.
But now, with cold and snow having arrived before the start of winter and Christmas just around the proverbial corner, the plaza has taken on a completely new look.
This one features a 23-foot-tall ornamental Christmas tree and a 15-foot by 15-foot ornamental globe-like creation which people can sit in.

“I want to thank Decatur Main Street; the plaza looks amazing,” city councilwoman Jenny Bowers-Shultz said at the council’s latest meeting.
“And I understand their have been a lot of letters to Santa.”
Bowers-Shultz was referring to the lighted Santa mailbox in which people are encouraged to insert their childrens’ letters to Santa.
“Yeh, I’ve heard their have been a lot of letters placed in there,” added Mayor Dan Rickord.
People are reminded to be sure to have each child include his/her name and mailing address (be sure to be legible) as they’re likely to get a letter back from the North Pole.

(Thursday is the final day to be certain of getting a reply.)
The new $20,000 worth of new downtown decorations are courtesy of Decatur Main Street..
The decorations were available from Artistic Holiday Designs of South Whitley – free of charge! So the Main Streeters moved quickly to grab them!
