It’s a head-to-head clash between two Adams County teams, both on their way to Team State in a month, at the Stardome Tuesday when South Adams hosts Bellmont, and the Adams Central BAGUBAS get their season underway against Norwell, and we’ve got it all covered at WZBD.

Adams Central will get a chance to wrestle once before Saturday’s ACAC Duals at Jay County when they host Norwell in the SAC. The Jets will have alumni Ryan Landis and Eric Myers in new chairs for the first time as Jet fans get to see the new lineup for the first time, with a new class of freshmen eager to bump the older boys out of their starting spots.

The matchup is not so much a challenging one for the Jets, with Norwell not offering much in terms of competition for a team that intends to win a state title this year in Adams Central, but it will be an important tune-up for Saturday.
The provisional lineup for the Jets shows plenty of growth in the squad. A roster that is one of the biggest in recent AC history speaks volumes about the personalities of Landis and Myers, who have both breathed new life into the program. There is also growth in some of the team’s biggest stars.
Myles Kaehr is up to 138 and by Christmas he will have 100 varsity wins in his career, a feat only accomplished by 35 wrestlers in school history.

Dylan Ogg, who tied the AC record for wins in a single season with 47 when he won semi-state last year, is up from 138 to 157.
Brason Schortgen is 81-10 through two seasons at Adams Central and all indications are that he will ultimately surpass Alex Currie’s career mark of 161 victories if he remains healthy as a junior and a senior. He is up from 150 to 165, and that brings a new set of challenges, but the weight appears to be wide open locally and with his talent, there’s nothing stopping Brason from going after another Jet semi-state title in 2026. He’ll face one of Norwell’s better wrestlers tonight.

Tuesday’s clash with South Adams is the final tune-up for the Bellmont Braves before they try to re-take the NE8 Duals crown from New Haven this weekend. Outside of last year’s debacle, when the Stars showed up to Bellmont several wrestlers short of a full team, South Adams has done well against Bellmont in recent years. The most intriguing storyline will be where the lineup shifts come.
If Wes Summersett and Xavior Palacios do step onto the mat at the same time, it will be an opportunity for Summersett to prove himself against the returning medalist, who will be a heavy favorite to win.

With a forfeit at heavyweight, and the Braves struggling to find a 215 who can find varsity success, it’s much more likely that the lineups in the heavier weights shift in this one.
Every match in the light weights from 113 to 132 offers an exciting matchup, with both teams likely thinking they can claim more than two wins in those bouts, while the middle weights also offer some fun head-to-heads from 150 all the way right up to the aforementioned 190 match.
It’s probably worth it to call this the most consequential dual meet between the two schools in a long time, as it seems both teams feel that the matchups are going to be important for sectional seeding in January.
