A longtime Decatur businessman will mark his recent 100th birthday by leading Decatur’s annual Callithumpian Parade on Monday.
Norman Steury, who celebrated the milestone on August 24, was chosen by the Callithumpian Committee to serve as grand marshal for the event which draws thousands of people to the downtown area each year.

The parade will launch at 6:57 p.m. from staging areas at the Bellmont schools and Stratton Addition areas.
A graduate of Decatur High School and Tri-State College in Angola, Norm and his father, Noah, started Decatur Industries in Industrial Park in 1943.
He has held seats on the board of Savinelli Pipes in Decatur, the Decatur school board, Tri-State College, and The Indiana Manufacturers Association.
After selling Decatur Industries and retiring in 1982, Steury moved to Florida and opened the Ark Restaurant in Lantana, operating it from 1982 to 2003.
He moved back to Decatur in 2005.
