Bellmont head coach Jake Briede, now in his second term as the head coach of the team for which he once starred as a player, had three different players score in the team’s scrimmage at Blackford, winning despite some intense heat, 5-0.

Carsten Hudson was the star for the Braves, registering a hat trick on just four shots on target.

The Braves used their superior numbers to wear down the Bruins, who had just five substitutes. A brief shower delayed the start of the game and lowered the temperature in Hartford City, but within the first half hour of play, the thermometer came close to its breaking point as players, officials, coaches and fans struggled to stay hydrated.

Hudson put the team up 1-0 with his opening goal on the first possession for the Braves, just 39 second into the scrimmage.
Another senior, Jack Johnson, scored the second goal with an assist from Jake Hackman eight minutes later.

Henry Faurote put a rebound in the back of the net for the third goal in the second period and Hudson scored again near the end of the second.

A minute later Hudson made it three with another assist from Hackman.

The Braves are already dealing with injury early in the season, with senior keeper Xavior Palacios missing out due to injury and his counterpart and classmate, Parker Frietas, sporting a stylish mask due to a broken nose. Frietas kept a clean sheet in his time in goal, while sophomore Grayson Riehm kept Blackford off the scoreboard in the final 30 minutes.

Freshmen August Fuelling, Brogan Hudson and Garrett Scherer made their debuts in Bellmont blue in the game.
