With a strong group of seniors graduating from last year’s team and the cross country team struggling to field a full team this fall, there were a lot of question marks heading into Thursday’s opening outdoor track meet for coach Matt Smith’s Heritage Patriots.
After Thursday night, the new-look Patriots had two wins and a lot of new names on the results sheets.

Times & Notes:
-Alexa Walter won the discus with a career-best throw of 87-01.
-Walter also broke her own outdoor PR in the shot by 4.5 feet, sweeping the throwing events for the home Patriots.
-The Heritage 4×100 relay team set a pretty good marker for the rest of the year with their winning time of 53.52.
-Freshman McKinsey Amstein’s times in the two hurdle events were about as fast as any Heritage athlete has gone in the last couple years. Amstein split the two events with Luers’ Isla Woodson.
