At their recent executive board meeting, the IHSAA released an initial alignment for the very first IHSAA-sponsored season of boys’ volleyball in Indiana for this coming spring.
The program at Heritage High School will be joined with the brand new program at Bellmont High School in the local sectional, along with seven other teams.
Proposed IHSAA sectional: Bellmont, North Side, South Side, Wayne, Heritage, Homestead, Huntington North, New Haven, Norwell
144 schools across Indiana have announced their intention to participate in the inaugural season.
According to the IHSAA, South Adams and Adams Central do not intend to field teams.
The IHSAA has set an official first practice date as March 10th for teams across Indiana, with the first varsity contests allowed after March 21st. Sectionals will take place on May 13th, 15th and 17th across the state.
Last season, WZBD became the first radio station in Indiana to broadcast a boys’ volleyball sectional and the sport will be part of the station’s regular spring sports schedule.
