As we reach the final days of the regular season and gear up for a great week of softball sectional action on WZBD, here is a roundup of Friday’s games around the area.
Carroll (FW) 4 Adams Central 3
The Chargers won at home with four early runs in the first two innings. It took Adams Central until the fifth inning to get on board. They scored all three of their runs in that fifth inning, with two coming from a Melina Peralez two-out double.
Lilli Jackson struck out seven and threw four perfect innings after she settled down from those opening two innings.
The Jets have a doubleheader against Southwood Saturday.
Homestead 10 Bellmont 6
This was our featured game of the night and Rex Brewer provides the highlights and recap of the night.
South Adams 12 Fremont 2
South Adams scored in every single inning and pushed three runs across in the bottom of the fifth inning to end the game early against Fremont.
Gracy Bixler drew the start to give Addie Baker rest for Saturday’s home invitational and threw a complete game, striking out six.
Macy Pries had a triple and a double and drove in two runs.
Sofia Schwartz continued her hot hitting with a 4 for 4 night.
Addie Baker drove in three runs with two hits.
Sectional Coverage begins Tuesday
While some sectionals across the state begin on Monday, our coverage does not begin until Tuesday and we will have a doubleheader for our softball fans, with the highly-anticipated rematch between Adams Central and South Adams in 2A action from Berne kicking off our coverage. When that game is complete, we will send it over to Leo High School for the Heritage Patriots and Garrett Railroaders.
