The Adams County Health Department, in coordination with the Indiana Department of Health, has confirmed a single laboratory verified case of measles in Adams County.
The case was confirmed through testing at Parkview Regional Hospital. Public health officials from the Adams County Health Department, the Allen County Department of Health and the Indiana Department of Health are actively working with the individual and their healthcare providers to investigate the source of the infection and identify anyone who may have been exposed. Identified close contacts will be directly notified.
Measles is a disease caused by a highly contagious virus that lives in the throat and nose of the infected person. Symptoms appear 10-12 days after exposure. Symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, and rash.
