Andrew “Andy” Lee Hackman, 65, passed away surrounded by the love of his family on Monday, July 27th, 2026.
Andy was born on October 1st, 1960, in Decatur, Indiana, to Berniece and Anselm “Jack” Hackman. He graduated from Belmont High School and went on to pursue his college education at ITT Technical Institute. He earned his Associate Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology and his Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Automated Manufacturing Technology. He spent his career as a Process Engineer, Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Technician. He was the fix-it man of the family.
Throughout his life, Andy was known for his steady presence, kind heart, and calm spirit. He had a way of making others feel comfortable and cared for, and those who knew him will remember him as a gentle, dependable man who was always willing to help.
Above all else, Andy cherished his family. He was a committed husband, loving father, proud grandfather, caring son, and supportive little brother to his siblings. His greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved and celebrating life’s everyday moments together.
Andy enjoyed the outdoors and the simple pleasures of life. He loved playing cards, hunting, riding a motorcycle and golfing, especially later in life. He was an avid sports fan who played baseball in his younger years and later gave back to the game as an umpire.
Andy is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Hackman; his children, Kira (Scott) Zick, Shanna Beemer, Maxwell (Karin Williams) Hackman, Alexander (Aliya) Hackman, and Gunner (Mallorie Vowles) Hackman; nine cherished grandchildren, Brody, Shepherd, Harper, Kate, Bentley, Charlize, Theo, Jack and Atlas. He is also survived by his sisters, Debbie (Robert) Ault and Amy (Patrick) Smith and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Berniece and Anslem “Jack” Hackman; siblings, Samuel Hackman, Christopher Hackman and Sarah Johnson; and a grandson, Jacob Zick.
Andy leaves behind a legacy of kindness, patience, quiet strength, and unwavering love for his family. Though he will be deeply missed, his gentle example and the countless memories he created will remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
A Celebration of Life gathering is tentatively planned for October 3rd, 2026, with details to be announced at a later date.
