Mary Lou Thieme, 89, of Decatur, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026 at Adams Woodcrest. Mary Lou was born in Decatur, IN on March 1, 1937 to the late Lawrence Hullinger and Lee Anna A. (Morrison) McIntosh. On April 23, 1965 she married Alfred H. Thieme and he preceded her in death on October 20, 1969.
Mary Lou was member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She worked as an LPN and retired from Adams Woodcrest. She loved knitting and crocheting.
She is survived by her children, Darlene Blair of Georgetown, KY, Denny Thieme of Pittsville, WI, Scott (Melissa) Simerman of Middlebury, IN, Terry Thieme of Decatur, IN and Craig Thieme of Monroe, IN; a brother, Verlin (Lois) McIntosh of Decatur, IN; 18 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Vaugh McIntosh, Varrell McIntosh, Vance McIntosh and Martin Hullinger; 3 sisters, Vivan Flutrow, Alice Foreman and Dorothy Hullinger.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 from 4-7 p.m. at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home. There will be calling 1 hour prior to services on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at the church.
Funeral Service for Mary Lou will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Pastor Kevin McGladdery officiating. Burial will follow in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
