The Decatur Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with main sponsor Oakwood Mutual Insurance, will host its eighth annual Germanfest this Saturday.
The festival is being held earlier this year than in the past.
Hours will be 5 to 10 p.m. on the Madison St. Plaza and no admission will be charged.

Festivities will open at 6 p.m. with Mayor Dan Rickord tapping the official wooden keg from Bavaria, according to the Chamber.
Music will once again be provided by the popular Franz Klaber Orchestra, a 13-piece band from Hamilton, Ohio.
Officials stress that this will be a family-friendly event, with polka dancing and traditional German food.
A biergarten (beer garden) will be serving the best beers in the entire world – German beers, the announcement said.

“Hat pins will be sold during the event,” the Chamber noted. “So men, put on your Lederhosen, and ladies put on your Dirndls and get ready for a good time for the whole family at the Dekatur Germanfest … Prost!”
Not only will the 2026 German hat pin (see photo) be on sale, but previous pins that are still available will be on sale.
