Judith A. Hicks, age 72, of Portland passed away on Wednesday April 8, 2026 in IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in Decatur, Indiana on November 29, 1953 the daughter of Marion “Jake” and Joy Ann (Garlinger) Armantrout. She was married on July 26, 1975 to Edward Hicks who survives.
Judy had worked for Berne Apparel and Tyson Foods. She was a 1973 Bryant High School graduate and enjoyed camping, dancing and the Indianapolis Colts.
Surviving is her husband of 50 years Edward Hicks, one son Edward B. Hicks of Portland, one daughter Amanda Fisher-Hicks of Winchester, one brother Bill Armantrout (wife Rosemary) of Portland, one sister Sharon Pensinger of Geneva, four grandchildren Alivia, Blake, Abigail and Addison who meant the world to her. She also has several aunts, uncles and cousins surviving. She was preceded in death by a daughter Christina Hicks.
Funeral services will be on Friday April 17th at 1:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Flint Redwine presiding. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 – 7:00 PM and one hour prior to services on Friday. Memorials can be directed to the Hicks family.
