James B. Eiting, 79, of Decatur, IN, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Envive Nursing Home in Berne. He was born in Louisville, KY, on July 4, 1946. His parents are the late Robert C. and Mary R. (Hessian) Eiting. On November 24, 1999, he married Phillis Becher.

He served his country in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War, and was a lifelong member of the American Legion Adams Post #43. Jim worked for Central Soya in maintenance, he loved classic cars and riding his motorcycle.
Jim is survived by his wife of 26 years, Phillis Eiting of Decatur; 3 children, Jimmy Eiting of Ft. Wayne, Debbie (Jeff) Bickel of Auburn, IN, Sandy (Rod) Simpson of Decatur; a sister, Bernadine (Kenny) Warstler of Auburn, IN; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by 2 sons, Robert Eiting and Rodney Bieberich.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 15 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday April 16, at 10:00am also at the Funeral Home, with visitation 1 hour prior 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Pastor Dan York will be officiating.
Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery and Military Graveside Rites are to be rendered by the American Legion Adams Post 43 Color Guard.
Preferred memorials may be made to the American Legion Post #43 Legion Riders, PAWS of Adams Co., or Stillwater Hospice.
